JYP Entertainment's single eyelid stars gain attention

For those familiar with K-pop and beauty standards in Asian countries, you know that double eyelids are one of the most obsessed about factors in one’s appearance. However, JYP Entertainment‘s single eyelid stars have recently been gaining attention as examples of celebrities who have no problems shining even without the coveted double eyelids.

On April 25th, an online community post titled, “JYP stars with single eyelids” surfaced with the above photo.

The post features four highly prominent stars that are part of the JYPE lineup, which include Jinwoon of 2AM, Wooyoung of 2PM, Sohee of Wonder Girls, and J.Y. Park himself. If you'll allow me a moment to shamelessly brag without any pretense of trying not to...my girl killed it. She didn't stumble, she never missed a beat, she just breezed on through like she wrote it herself...like, people around me were going, "wow," because it was darn impressive. I mean, it doesn't leave you thinking, "oh, the little girl recited a cute poem," it's the Gettysburg flipping Address, and this eleven-year-old gets up there and completely owns it. So proud!

•  went to an appointment at my dermatologist's office. I love my dermatologist for having Vogue and Elle in the waiting room instead of just Readers Digest. I don't love him for prescribing me a cream for eyelid eczema that's labeled "not for eye use." So now I have to put cream on my eyelids but not get it in my eyes, and you know I'm going to be paranoid that I'll blind myself forever if I slip and get within one millimeter of a tear duct.

Not uncommonly patients come in frustrated at trying to treat dark circles around their eyes.  They’ve tried multiple creams but nothing seems to work.  Dark circles around the eyes can, indeed, can be challenging to treat primarily because there are multiple reasons people get them.  If the treatment selected does not address the actual cause then little improvement will be observed.  Sometimes the skin is, in fact, darker.  In other cases the skin of the area appears darker because of another physical change.  Below is a list of some reasons why a person might have the appearance of dark circles around the eyes and what could possibly be done to address them.

1. genetics-  In some families the skin around the eyes gets darker over time.  This is not a sign of a disease, being tired or any other abnormality.  In this case the skin is, in fact, darker.  Although genetics can be hard to fight wearing sunscreen and sunglasses can be helpful in preventing and reducing the darkening.  Products that contain exfoliating ingredients and brightening agents may help.   Some chemical peels, such as the Enerpeel EL system by Glytone, which is a peel specifically designed to be used on the eyelids, may also reduce the darkening of the skin.
